Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Excellence

Our Commitment to Safety and Sustainability

At SMPL, safety and environmental responsibility are forged into every structure we manufacture. As a premier steel structure manufacturing partner, we handle heavy materials, precision machinery, and complex fabrication processes daily. We are uncompromising in our mission to provide a incident-free workplace for our team while minimizing our ecological footprint through sustainable, lean production practices.

Certified Management Systems

Our operational integrity is validated by rigorous, internationally recognized standards. We manage our facility under an integrated EHS framework certified to: ISO 45001:2018 – Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental Management Systems These certifications ensure that our processes are continuously audited, risks are systematically mitigated, and our leadership team is actively engaged in building a transparent culture of care.

Workplace Health & Safety Priorities

In steel manufacturing, heavy fabrication demands continuous vigilance. Our ISO 45001-compliant program targets the critical safety vectors inherent to our shop floor:

  • Overhead Crane & Material Handling Safety:
  • Stringent daily inspections of rigging gear, load testing, and mandatory certification for all crane and forklift operators moving heavy structural steel elements.

  • Welding, Cutting, & Thermal Hazards:
  • Advanced local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems to control welding fumes, strict flash-screen barriers to protect passersby, and high-grade PPE for all thermal cutting and joining operations.

  • Machine Guarding & Lockout/Tagout (LOTO):
  • Complete physical guards on all hydraulic presses, CNC plasma cutters, and band saws, backed by zero-tolerance LOTO procedures during maintenance.

  • Fall Protection & Assembly Safety:
  • Dedicated safety harnesses, secure scaffolding, and engineered tie-off points used during the trial assembly of massive structural trusses and columns.

    Environmental Stewardship & Resource Efficiency

Steel is infinitely recyclable, and our manufacturing process respects the lifecycle of this vital material. Guided by ISO 14001, we minimize waste and protect our natural resources through targeted initiatives:

  • Scrap Metal Optimization:
  • Efficient nesting software to maximize raw plate yield, combined with 100% recycling of all structural steel offcuts, turnings, and mill scale.

  • Air Emissions & Dust Control:
  • Industrial filtration and dust collection systems that trap particulate matter from shot-blasting, grinding, and surface preparation before air is recirculated or exhausted.

  • Responsible Chemical & Coating Management:
  • Usage of low-VOC paints and coatings wherever structural specifications allow, alongside secondary containment setups for all chemical and fuel storage zones to protect local soil and groundwater.

  • Energy Management:
  • Systematic upgrades to energy-efficient LED bay lighting and inverter-based welding power sources to lower total grid draw during peak manufacturing hours.

    Joint Responsibility & Empowerment

We believe that safety is an active, collaborative daily practice. Every employee and contractor on our shop floor holds Stop Work Authority. If an unsafe condition or unrecognized environmental hazard is spotted, any team member has the power and the obligation to pause production until the risk is properly assessed and cleared by EHS personnel.
